SBP launches #NextGen Communicators Project with The National Lottery Community Fund Scotland
SCOTLAND: The Big Picture is delighted to announce its #NextGen Communicators project has been supported by a £2,500 grant from The National Lottery Community Fund in Scotland.
In a significant step towards creating a diverse and inclusive dialogue on rewilding, SCOTLAND: The Big Picture is delighted to announce its #NextGen Communicators project has been supported by a £2,500 grant from The National Lottery Community Fund in Scotland.
The #NextGen Communicators project is designed to empower young people, equipping them with the skills and confidence to become impactful communicators about rewilding and its benefits to nature, climate and people.
The funding will cover several critical aspects of the project, including the provision of expert guides, professional communications trainers, and other essential costs. These elements are vital in creating a comprehensive and supportive training environment for the participants.
SCOTLAND: The Big Picture’s Rewilding Communications Training is a transformative five-day residential course, offering people an opportunity to immerse themselves in the practicalities of rewilding. Participants develop the ability to articulate and share their experiences effectively, thereby inspiring others in their communities to rewild.
Promoting Diversity and Inclusion
A core objective of the #NextGen Communicators project is to remove barriers to inclusion. SCOTLAND: The Big Picture is committed to reaching out to young people from diverse and often underrepresented backgrounds, actively recruiting participants who can bring new perspectives to the rewilding narrative.
The National Lottery Community Fund’s Scotland Chair, Kate Still said: “Every day National Lottery funding is changing the lives of thousands of people in communities across Scotland. This project delivered by SCOTLAND: The Big Picture is a great example of community activity in action, showing just what can be achieved when people come together for a common cause or to help others.
“National Lottery players can be proud to know that the money they raise is helping to support this vital work which is making a real difference to so many.”
The project will not only directly benefit up to 12 young people, aged 18 to 30, providing them with the tools to become advocates for rewilding within their communities, but also has the potential to reach up to 2,400 additional individuals through the compelling stories and messages shared by the participants.
The grant from The National Lottery Community Fund Scotland highlights the importance of enabling inclusive, community-driven initiatives that can make a lasting impact on both individuals and society as a whole.
Looking Ahead
SCOTLAND: The Big Picture launches the #NextGen Communicators project this November. The project is not just about training a new generation of rewilding communicators but about building a more inclusive, informed, and inspired society. We are grateful for the support of The National Lottery Community Fund Scotland and look forward to seeing the transformative impact this project will have on our participants and their communities.
