Woodriffe Farm sits on sloping ground with panoramic view over the River Tay, looking out to the hills of Angus. With species-rich woods, scrub and hedgerows covering substantial sections of the farm, it already provides excellent joined-up habitats for nature. Outsourced arable and livestock farming continues on part of the site, but a rewilding journey has begun which will see nature recovery and nature-friendly enterprise become increasingly central in shaping the landholding’s future.
Key rewilding commitments:
- MORE NATIVE WOODLAND: Explore opportunities to increase connected native woodland on site.
- MORE SPACE FOR WATER: Introduce new ponds and scrapes.
- JOINED UP HABITATS: Remove redundant fencing to facilitate wildlife movement.
- RETURN MISSING SPECIES: Undertake enrichment planting of missing aspen and juniper across the farm.
- CONNECT WITH COMMUNITIES: Explore opportunities to increase community access, create community events (e.g. a forestry school) and facilitate community volunteering.
- CREATE REWILDING BUSINESS: Create a sustainable eco-accomodation enterprise.
'Woodriffe Farm has been on a nature recovery journey for some time, but there’s now reason and opportunity to raise our ambition, and do something more for nature and the community.'
