The owners of this small farm in Northwest Fife have had a longstanding interest in nature – planting native tree copses, establishing new hedgerows and creating waterbodies. Plans are now in-hand to significantly scale-back the deer farming operation on site and turn-up the dial on nature recovery.
Key rewilding commitments:
- MORE NATIVE WOODLAND: Create native broadleaf wood pasture across identified fields.
- MORE SPACE FOR WATER: Increase number of waterbodies across the landholding.
- RETURN MISSING SPECIES: Enrich new and existing woodlands with native shrubs and climbing plants.
- LET NATURE LEAD: Significantly reduce farmed deer population.
- REINSTATE NATURAL GRAZING: Encourage establishment of wildflower meadows.
- CONNECT WITH COMMUNITIES: Explore visitor access opportunities (to facilitate community exposure to recovering nature).
